Off the cruise ship, now on a Tour Bus, I'm somewhere in Aruba. My first impression was that it was totally different than what I thought it would be. I was somewhat amazed and shocked. I thought I would see an island filled with lots of palm trees and white sandy beaches, (remember, I'm not traveling to a resort), but instead I quickly saw cacti, dry land, dry trees and boulders, still an interesting place to explore. I quickly took pictures, of course, being the tourist I like to be, I wanted to see the most I could on my tour. I was intrigued about the land and the culture I was being introduced to. Below are some pics I took during my adventure to Aruba.

Well, I was wearing my white, long sleeve rash-guard because it was a time that tourists were being cautioned about mosquitos if you traveled to South America. So I was being cautious of bites on the tour. Some of the people from the tour bus climbed the rock, not me. I figured I would enjoy seeing its' magnitude from below. Impressive, don't you think? If you look through my Just Lips cards, you will see how I interpreted my visit to this island in my designs.

We got back on the Tour Bus and the tour guide talked about how the island was dry due to a drought the island of Aruba was suffering from. It hadn't rained for many years he said. That explained the majestic brown I saw in front of me.

Coconuts. I love to draw them. It's not an island if you don't get to see coconuts! The Tour Bus also made a stop for us to order a coconut drink from a small truck by one of the sights in Aruba. It was a delicious drink!

This was the tour guide greeting the mascot at the refreshment truck. You might get to see the parrot in one of my cards in the future. The parrot cawed, "Take my picture and then show off my blue feathers in your designs!" ...Okay, it didn't say that. I just made it up.

Finally, the last stop we came to in Aruba was a

water view. The water was just magnificent. The breaking of the waters against the rocks was breathtaking!

We learned that if you want to make a wish here, you collect some small rocks and stack them one on top of the other and leave them there for the water universe to make your wishes come true. This had been an amazing trip to Aruba.
